SDA Match is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your personal information when you use our platform. We operate in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
1. Who we are
SDA Match is an online platform that connects NDIS participants with Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) funding to compatible housemates and suitable SDA properties. Our platform is free for participants and SDA home owners.
2. Information we collect
We collect personal information that you provide when creating a profile or registering a property. This may include:
- Your email address and password (for account access)
- Your SDA design category and funded bedroom configuration
- Location preferences (suburb, region or state)
- Lifestyle and household preferences
- Support needs relevant to compatible matching (e.g. overnight on-call assistance, ceiling hoist requirements)
- Your support provider's name and contact email (if provided)
- SDA property address, type and availability (for home owners)
We do not collect your NDIS plan number, medical records, financial account details or government-issued identification.
3. How we use your information
Your information is used solely to operate the SDA Match platform. Specifically:
- To create and display your anonymous matching profile to other users
- To calculate compatibility scores and surface relevant matches
- To send match notifications and platform updates to your email address
- To facilitate introductions between participants via their support providers
- To allow SDA home owners to find compatible tenants
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling outside of matching, or any commercial purpose beyond operating the platform.
4. Anonymity and profile visibility
Participant profiles are displayed anonymously — your real name and contact details are never shown to other users. You are identified only by a system-generated participant number (e.g. Participant #2847), your SDA category and broad location. Your identity is only disclosed when both you and your support provider agree to a connection.
5. Sharing your information
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to any third party. Your information may be shared in the following limited circumstances:
- With your nominated support provider, for the purpose of facilitating a match introduction
- With SDA home owners, in anonymised form only, to surface compatible participants
- With service providers who help us operate the platform (e.g. web hosting), under strict confidentiality obligations
- Where required by Australian law or a court order
6. Data storage and security
Your data is stored securely on servers located in Australia. We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords and access controls. We regularly review our security practices.
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If you have concerns about the security of your account, please contact us immediately.
7. Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.
8. Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Opt out of non-essential communications at any time
